Preventive Medicine

At Kyrene Internal Medicine, we focus on Preventive medicine and practice this daily. Our doctors educate their patients on how they can participate in their own medical care

Preventive medicine or preventive care refers to measures taken to prevent illness or injury, rather than curing them.

Preventive medicine helps the patient by helping with early diagnosis and management of serious medical conditions. This helps to reduce cost of treatment thereby reducing overall healthcare costs of treating chronic diseases.

Preventive care may include examinations and screening tests tailored to an individual’s age, health, and family history. For example, a person with a family history of certain cancers or other diseases would begin screening at an earlier age and/or more frequently than those with no family history. Simple examples of preventive medicine include hand washing and immunizations.
