Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of arteries.  High blood pressure puts you at risk for many different adverse health issues, such as heart disease or stroke.  It can be dangerous because sometimes it has no warning signs or symptoms.

Here are some tips on getting your blood pressure taken.

  • Go to the bathroom prior to your reading.
  • Wear short sleeves to expose your arms.
  • Don’t drink coffee or smoke cigarettes 30 minutes prior to the reading.
